How Signicat came to finding and defining our purpose: Building a Trusted Digital World

More than 10 years ago, the renowned author Simon Sinek wanted to help people and organisations be more inspired in their daily existence. He created the "Golden Circle" framework, consisting of the ‘what’, the ‘how’ and the ‘why’- three of the most basic concepts that we all deal with.

For most companies out there, the ‘what’ is pretty obvious: whether it’s the services they provide, the products they sell, all organisations and leaders will know what they do. The ‘how’ is also relatively easy to figure out: maybe it’s the things that they do differently and set them apart from the competition, maybe it’s cutting edge concepts or state-of-the-art technology. This is where most companies stop, however. Because the ‘why’ is a lot harder to figure out, to define, to understand and to integrate in a company. And no, money is not the answer to this question, it’s just the natural consequence.

The idea of finding our ‘why’ has been with us for a while. The ‘why’ relates to something deeper, to a purpose, to a belief and it is the core of the organisation, its mere existence. It is a challenge to define. And let me just tell you, we love a good challenge in Signicat.

At the end of last year, we created perhaps one of the most beautiful projects in our company. We went very granular on why do we do what we do, why do we get out of bed every morning to accomplish our tasks at Signicat and why do we thrive in our jobs. We organised workshops with all our teams, we asked everyone in our company, we collected input and feedback, we looked at what our customers said about us. We listened. And the answers to these questions came naturally, as if it was something that we were all thinking about. We ended up with a concrete and great summary of why we do what we do: to make the digital world safer. This amazing video stands for what we truly believe in and how we make the world a better place – by making it safer and more secure.

We bring TRUST to the digital world.
