Signicat supports all e-signatures, according to eIDAS

The three main types of electronic signatures according to eIDAS, SES, AES and QES are all supported by Signicat. Each type represents an increased level of legally binding signatures, choose the one that fits your need and security level.

  • For low-risk scenarios. No real evidence of signee.

    Identity methods:

    • SMS-OTP, email OTP.
    • InkSign scribble.

    Certificate:

    • No certificate.
    • Protected by seal and timestamp from Signicat.
  • Reliable and verified identification of the signer, with a unique connection between signature and signee. Tamper evident signatures. 

    Identity methods:

    • Authentication-based signing with level substantial or high eIDs.
    • Identity built from scratch using SignatureID combined with VideoID (eIDV method).
    • Third party services supporting AES (provided by some eIDs).

    Certificate:

    • One-off certificate for the signer.
    • Permanent certificate for the signer (provided by some eIDs).
    • For authentication-based signing; protected by seal and timestamp from Signicat.
  • A QES is an AES using a QSCD (Qualified Secure Signature Creation Device), such as card reader or mobile phone and is based on a qualified certificate. It requires the use of a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) for the actual signing process. 

    Identity methods:

    • Identity built from scratch using SignatureID combined with VideoID High (eIDV method).
    • One-off certificates issued from level high eIDs.
    • Third-party sign services supporting QES (EstEID, EstEID Mobile, Itsme, BeID, Swisscom QES/nPA).

    Certificates:

    • One-off certificate; the certificate is not stored - a new certificate is issued per signing session.
    • Permanent/long-term certificate; Signicat provides access to the certificate issuer and stores the certificate.
