Signicat renews VideoID qualification for remote identity verification

Signicat, a qualified service provider in Spain and a Pan-European leader in digital identity solutions, has successfully renewed the qualification of its VideoID solution. This qualification, issued by Spain’s National Cryptographic Center (CCN), confirms that VideoID meets the latest and highest standards for a secure and compliant remote identity verification.

The scope of this qualification has two dimensions. At the European level, it ensures VideoID complies with eIDAS regulations, enabling remote identification verification for issuing qualified digital certificates. These certificates are essential for processes like signing documents online or accessing online services that require a high level of assurance, with the same legal validity and compliance as face-to-face verification across Europe.

With this qualification, VideoID maintains its inclusion in CPSTIC's catalogue of qualified tools which ensures that any public tender requiring remote identification of citizens uses tools that have passed the strictest national security controls. The qualification is mandatory as of March 1, 2023, for all Qualified Trusted Service Providers (QTSP) operating in Spanish territory and issuing qualified certificates through non-face-to-face identity verification processes.

VideoID makes it easy and secure to verify identities remotely, helping people access digital services like opening a bank account, applying for a mortgage, or having access to public services like tax payments or social security requests. With this renewal, Signicat reinforces its leadership in providing technologies that meet the highest security and compliance standards.

Jorge Guillamet, Country Manager Spain, France and Portugal

Security and compliance are paramount to us and our customers. Renewing the CCN qualification demonstrates our continued leadership and commitment to providing digital identity solutions that comply with the strictest European and national regulations,” said Jorge Guillamet, Country Manager Spain at Signicat. "The CCN has reinforced the security measures related to AI-based fraud, which is essential to keep our industry in line with technological advances and challenges. According to our own data, deepfake attacks only accounted for 0.1% of all fraud attempts we detected three years ago, but today they represent around 6.5%, which is an increase of 2137% in the last three years" he adds. Signicat’s VideoID product is a key component of the Battle Against AI-driven Identity Fraud in the high-level of assurance sectors.

As one of the first qualified service providers to obtain the qualification in December 2022, Signicat continues to lead the way in delivering innovative digital identity solutions. The company offers a complete range of digital identity solutions, including identity verification, authentication, electronic signatures, and fraud prevention on a pan-European scale with global reach.
