SPID

Sistema Pubblico di Identitá Digitale, SPID, is an Italian public identity system. It provides access to public and commercial online services.

Any Italian citizen over 18 can apply for SPID through one of the accredited Digital Identity Providers. You need an Italian identity document, a social security card or tax code, an email address and a mobile phone number.

SPID is used for identity proofing, including onboarding and secure authentication. It supports all three levels of assurance according to eIDAS, low, substantial and high.

SPID can be used on desktop, web and mobile devices.
