When Lucas joined the ElectronicID team (one of Signicat's company acquisitions) as a CISO almost five years ago, the challenges were as vast as they were demanding. Entrusted with implementing the ENS certification—a critical security framework—Lucas had to start from scratch. At the time, the team was just 30 people strong, and he tackled this monumental task entirely on his own.

"To be honest, I was entirely alone when I started the ENS implementation within the ElectronicID company," Lucas recalls. "It was challenging, with plenty of late nights and tough decisions. What kept me motivated was the belief in the importance of what I was building. Now, as an IT Security Analyst at Signicat, I have an incredible team around me that collaborate and support each other beyond expectations."

His focus on frameworks like ENS and ISO27001 has since expanded. Today, Lucas contributes to a broader range of local and global security regulations, ensuring that Signicat’s offerings remain secure and compliant in a rapidly changing environment.

Lucas thrives on balancing routine with unpredictability. A typical day for him might begin with answering emails and reviewing tasks. But, in his own words, "no day is 'typical' when you're in IT security." Constantly evolving threats and regulations ensure that the challenge is never static.

"This field evolves so quickly—it’s exciting but also keeps you on your toes," Lucas shares. "The fact that I’m never in my comfort zone makes the work incredibly thrilling. I’m always learning, always adapting."

Learning is central to Lucas's success. By staying updated on emerging trends and threats in the industry, he quickly anticipates gaps and develops strategies to address them. He also carves out time to upskill, focusing on new technologies and tools that can improve processes and better outcomes.

Outside of work, Lucas leads a vibrant and multifaceted life. He has spent years honing his vocal skills, a fact that becomes immediately evident the moment you hear him perform opera.
