EUDI Wallet testing is now available in Signicat’s sandbox
You can now activate the EUDI Wallet connector in your Signicat sandbox account and start testing wallet-based identity flows through the Signicat eID and Wallet Hub.
–We designed our eID and Wallet Hub to make it as simple as possible to start using trusted identities, whether they come from eIDs or wallets, through one simple integration.
This means you don’t need to wait for national EUDI Wallets to become widely available before starting work on your integration. You can already configure the connector, test an authentication flow and connect your application in the sandbox. If you’re an existing Signicat customer, you can use the same API you already use for eIDs.
What can you test today?
During this early-stage release, identity wallets are available for sandbox testing.
You can activate the EUDI Wallet connector directly in the Signicat Dashboard. Once it is configured, you can test an authentication flow from the Dashboard before connecting it to your application.
To complete a test transaction, you need a supported test wallet containing Person Identification Data (PID). Signicat currently supports testing with the iGrant Data Wallet in combination with the EUDI Wallet connector, as none of the official Member State wallets are yet available for everyone to test.
Using the iGrant issuing service, you can issue mock PID credentials to the test wallet. You can then start an authentication from the Signicat Dashboard, scan the displayed QR code with the wallet, review and approve the requested attributes, and see the returned user attributes in the Dashboard.
This lets you test the wallet flow and verify your setup before building the application integration.
How does the EUDI Wallet integration work?
The integration process has three main steps:
- Activate and configure the EUDI Wallet in the Signicat Dashboard.
- Test the wallet flow in the sandbox.
- Connect your application to the eID and Wallet Hub using one of the existing standard authentication protocols.
For the application integration, the eID and Wallet Hub supports OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML 2.0 and the Signicat Authentication REST API.
You can find detailed instructions for configuring the connector, setting up the iGrant test wallet and issuing test PID credentials in the EUDI Wallet integration guide.
Why start testing now?
EU Member States are required to provide at least one EUDI Wallet by the end of 2026. Rather than one wallet for the whole EU, Member States will provide their own wallets based on common European requirements and technical standards.
Testing now means you can already start working on the parts of the setup that are available today, including your integration, technical configuration and wallet-based customer journey.
As Member State EUDI Wallets become available, Signicat will support them through the eID and Wallet Hub. This means you will be able to access supported Member State wallets through one hub connection rather than building a separate integration for each supported wallet.
Signicat is also monitoring wallet developments appearing ahead of the wider EUDI Wallet rollout and adding them to the eID and Wallet Hub as they become available, including the trust infrastructure needed to access them. Denmark, for example, launched AltID in June 2026. Signicat assesses emerging wallets individually to determine whether they can already be supported.
From sandbox testing to production
The current EUDI Wallet release is for sandbox testing.
As Member States continue to develop and release their wallet solutions, Signicat will support customers in moving their integration into production and completing the necessary registration with the relevant national authorities.
