Who is responsible for processing your data?
Signicat is a leader in digital identity and we are providing services to leading companies across Europe including regulated financial institutions. We are a highly trusted company in the digital identity space and operate according to the highest level of compliance across all markets. Signicat SLU, Signicat's Spanish entity, is responsible as the:
- Data processor in the Video Identification process on behalf of our customers.
- Data controller for the processing of your personal data for the purposes of detecting and preventing document forgery and identity fraud as described in this Privacy Policy.

What personal data do we collect?
During the video identification process, we collect the complete video recording of the process. This means that we collect the following information: Biometric data such as Images and video of the face / audio recordings of you and your identity document and metadata associated to these. However, at no time this biometric data is going to be used for the purpose of identifying or authenticating purposes.
How do we collect this data?
We collect your data by recording the video identification process you have entered in order to be identified for one of our customers and/or for the issuance of a Qualified Electronic Certificate.
Why do we collect your data?
We collect your data to use it in the generation of training Dataset to improve the artificial intelligence applied to digital images used by the algorithm that powers our Software to detect and prevent document forgery and identity fraud. The processing pursues the detection of forgeries in documents, the detection of faces and gestures to identify possible forgeries and identity attacks using the Software, such as face impersonation or cutting and pasting of images on documents. Our legal basis for processing your data is the consent you gave us before we collected your data. You can withdraw your consent at any time by informing us via the contact options provided below. If you withdraw your consent, we will end the processing of your data.
How do we protect your data?
We work with leading financial institutions across Europe according to the highest levels of compliance. When we use your data to improve our product, we have implemented leading technical and organisational measures to ensure the security of your data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
How long do we keep your data?
The data in encrypted form will be kept as long as it is necessary for us to continually improve our services in detecting and preventing document forgery and identity fraud unless otherwise requested by you.
Sharing of Data
Your data is not made available to third parties under any circumstances for the purpose of improving our product for identification and prevention of document forgery and identity fraud.
Do we transfer your data outside of the EU/EEA?
Your data is not subject to international transfer under any circumstances.
What are your data protection rights?
Individuals who have their data processed by Signicat have the following rights under GDPR:
- The right to be informed (which is why we have published this policy).
- The right to access data we hold about the individual - the right to have data rectified, if inaccurate .
- The right to withdraw consent, and to be forgotten.
- The right to have data blocked from further processing.
Individuals who want to exercise any of these rights can contact Signicat SLU. If our handling of personal data is not found to be satisfactory, and issues cannot be resolved with us directly, individuals can complain to the data protection authority.
